Irish pub Sober Lane tweeted last week that it will only be accepting job applications through Snapchat, an app that lets users send disappearing pictures and videos to friends.

In its recruitment ad, the bar encouraged applicants to "forget discretion" and have some fun with the photos they send, according to Business Insider.

Between 15 and 20 people will be accepted to fill in bar, chef and waitstaff positions. Ernest Cantillon, owner of Sober Lane, said that within an hour of posting the recruitment add, they received almost 200 Snapchat applications.

Cantillon added that he had never heard of Snapchat being used by another restaurant or company in the way his company is using it now, TechCrunch reported.

"We knew it would be popular, but we didn't know it would be that popular," he said.

Sober Lane announced in its tweet that it will start accepting applications on June 26 at the Snapchat username SoberLaneD4.

"Make an impression if you want a profession," it tweeted.

Cantillon said Snapchat was chosen to be used for applications because it would let the bar find potential employees who are creative and innovative, as well as quickly get an understanding of their personalities. He added that some of the best snaps included a video of a bartender making cocktails and one showing a chef making lunch, and that some videos included people dressed up in costumes or performing magic tricks.

"There's so many bars in Dublin, and most are selling pretty similar products," Cantillon said. "The only thing that's really different is your staff."

Cantillon had interviewed 15 applicants as of Monday, and has so far hired six.

Sober Lane will be forced to choose applicants quickly because the photos and videos that the applicants sent will only appear for a few seconds, Business Insider reported.

"First impressions are everything in our game. Sober Lane Cork is quirky and different. It's all about fun, and it's driven by our staff, who pick the music, and we don't do uniforms," Cantillon explained. "If someone has a good personality, it will come across on Snapchat and we'll offer them a job or invite them in for a chat. If they have the right personality, we can teach them the skills they'll need to work with us."

Sober Lane currently has several bars in Cork, and is planning to open a new pub in Dublin on July 16th.
