Sam Lutfi, Britney Spears' former manager presses charges against the singer's family and the singer for physical assault, defamation and breach of contract.
Lynne Spears accused Lutfi of providing Britney with drugs, but Lutfi said in an open court that he never shared his medicines that he'd been prescribed for Adderall and advised to take two doses a day. Lutfi also said he was the one trying to keep the singer off the drugs and keep her career going in the right track. The family is fighting a multi-million dollar lawsuit because Lutfi said he was promised 15 percent of the pop-star's earnings during the period.
"She told me she wanted to get clean but she was struggling with it," Lutfi said. "I told her it was very difficult to kick a drug habit...but I told her she needed to do it. I explained to her that society was not going to tolerate a mother with two kids abusing drugs."
Lutfi said in court that Spears asked him to become her manager in June 2007, after they had met in a nightclub.
"She was very distraught," he said. "She was having a child custody battle and was in the middle of a divorce. I told her I had no experience as a manager for someone of her caliber. I wanted time to think about it."
Lutfi added Spears said it would earn him a fortune.
"She said, 'I'm getting $800,000 a month even when I'm not working. You will get 15 percent of that,'" he recalled.
Lutfi did not let go of the opportunity with his certain conditions, asking for a "varsity team" with a lawyer, agent and a business manager. He also said he wanted the singer to stay clean and had drug-sniffing dogs to Spears' home, where he found bag full of white powder, which he had it flushed down the toilet.
"I took charge of dealing with the press. I acted as a liaison between Britney and her child custody attorneys. I interfaced with her record label and video producers. I helped her choose artwork for her album and merchandise," he added.
Lutfi said he took care of her most things like dealing with the custody of her child and interacted with her record labels and producers for her videos and also helping in choosing "artwork for her album and merchandise."
Lutfi also claimed to have helped Spears with her successful world tour, "Circus." The singer's father, Jamie Spears, couldn't stop laughing over this statement of Lutfi.
Spears' have been eliminated from testifying and is not anticipated to attend the court for any trials.
