'American Idol' Winner Candice Glover’s ‘Music Speaks’ Debuts July 16

Newly crowned "American Idol" Candice Glover's debut album will be in the hands of fans, or more likely their disk drives, by July 16. To be titled "Music Speaks", the album will have on it her first single "I Am Beautiful", which the 23-year-old performed as her celebration song on the "American Idol" season 12 finale show on Thursday.

Normally, winners' albums are released in the fall or later. Glover referred to the break in tradition in an interview with AP.

"I've built a fan base being on this show, and my fan base is interested in me now and they won't see me every Wednesday and Thursday anymore to admire my singing, so I think it's a good thing it's coming out this summer," she said.

Talking about the content of the album, Glover revealed that it will fall in the R&B and soul space, with a little bit of jazz thrown in. An ardent admirer of Jazmine Sullivan, she hopes to channel some of the Grammy-nominated singer's vibe for the album.

Glover didn't reveal the producers and songwriters she plans to work with, simply stating she had no idea, but added that she wants the album to be replete with inspirational messages.

"I Am Beautiful" could be an indication of that, with a chorus that declares: "He says I am beautiful. And when I fall, it don't matter that I'm not perfect. I am beautiful, I'm not alone, and in his eyes I'm so worth it. I'm worth every tear, and every scar, and even when you say I'm not, he says I'm beautiful."

The release in July may also bode well for fans eager to hear Glover wield a microphone live on stage. It's a possibility that Glover will perform some tracks from the album on the "American Idol" tour, which kicks off in St. Louis on June 29. The singer has already started doing the publicity rounds in the US, and most recently performed on "Live! with Kelly & Michael".
