Pitt Slams Aniston Marriage: Actor Says He Was 'Unhappy and unfulfilled'

In an interview with Esquire magazine, Brad Pitt talks about his life with fiancé Angelina Jolie, his six kids and what it was like before he met Jolie while indirectly slamming his marriage to actress Jennifer Aniston.

He tells the magazine about his drug use and "drifting" during that unhappy time of his life.

"For a long time I thought I did too much damage - drug damage," the 49-year-old actor said. "I was a bit of a drifter. A guy who felt he grew up in something of a vacuum and wanted to see things, wanted to be inspired. I followed that other thing. I spent years f**ing off. But then I got burnt out and felt that I was wasting my opportunity. It was a conscious change."

Pitt went on to say that he had an epiphany about a decade ago. He felt unhappy and unfulfilled. Even though the "World War Z" star does not directly say this was the time he was married to Aniston, the "decade ago" he refers to coincides with his marriage to the actress. The two divorced in 2005.

This is not the first time Pitt has slammed his marriage to Aniston. In a 2011 interview with Parade magazine, he insinuated that life with her was boring.

"I started to get sick of myself sitting on the couch, holding a joint, hiding out. It started feeling pathetic," Pitt said to Parade. "It became very clear to me that I was intent on trying to find a movie about an interesting life, but I wasn't living an interesting life myself.

"I think that my marriage [to actress Jenifer Aniston] had something to do with it. Trying to pretend the marriage was something that it wasn't."

Pitt's interview with Parade caused such a stir that Pitt later issued an apology. Aniston has also talked about her marriage saying that he lacked a "sensitivity chip."

Jolie has kept pretty quiet about the situation but did say in an interview that she "couldn't wait" to get to set while shooting "Mr. & Mrs. Smith."
