It's On! California Mayor Caught Tossing Dog Feces On Neighbor's Lawn For Alleged Revenge

The mayor of a small California city was caught on camera dropping a bag of dog feces on his neighbor's lawn on Saturday, NBC Los Angeles reported.

Surveillance footage shows San Marino Mayor Dennis Kneier tossing the tied bag onto a homeowner's property on Charlton Road at around 6 p.m., police told the station. The mayor allegedly left the offensive package because the homeowner is against his dog park proposal.

The mayor later admitted to leaving the bag on Philip Lao's front lawn after finding it on the sidewalk, but said in hindsight he should have thrown it in the trash.

"I take responsibility for what happened," Kneier, who lives two blocks away from Lao, said according to NBC Los Angeles. "I'm sorry it happened...it was a mistake."

But Lao believes Kneier intentionally left the droppings because of his opposition to the mayor's plan to build a dog park in the wealthy, Southern California city. Lao thinks dog owners would leave their dogs unattended in the park while they run errands, the station reported.

Kneier also doesn't like the fact that Lao has a "No Poop Zone" sign in front of his home warning dog owners against leaving feces. Lao said he won't remove it because it's his right as a homeowner. The mayor admitted to not liking the sign, but said it does not go against city rules. Both men do not own dogs.

According to Lao, the surveillance footage shows Kneier walking with his wife, who points to Lao's walkway. The mayor then tosses the bag onto his lawn. Kneier clarified his actions on the tape, saying that instead of bending down to place the bag he was "standing up and dropped it," NBC Los Angeles reported.

Kneier also said there are no hard feelings between him and Lao.
