"Ghostbusters" is celebrating a milestone.

The action comedy is celebrating its 30th anniversary by returning to the big screen. "Ghostbusters" is scheduled to hit about 700 big screens on Aug. 29, for a limited period of time, according to The Wrap.

"Ghostbusters is still one of our studio's most beloved franchises - I was lucky enough to work on the release of the film on its first run, so it's a real thrill for me to see that it's still connecting with audiences everywhere," Rory Bruer, Sony's President of Worldwide Distribution, said in a statement. "On the big screen or in home entertainment, this is a great movie to experience again and again."

"Ghostbusters" stars Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis and Ernie Hudson as a gang of supernatural hunters who specialize in the paranormal. After the release the paranormal comedy in 1984 become became an international hit, which lead to two animated spinoff series, books, toys, video games and a 1989 live-action sequel.

Sony Pictures Entertainment will release "Ghostbusters" 30th anniversary edition Blu-ray on Sept.16. "Ghostbusters II" 25th anniversary edition Blu-ray will be released on the same date - making its debut on Blu-ray.

The Blu-ray versions feature conversations with director Ivan Reitman and writer Dan Aykroyd and never-before-seen scenes that did not make to the final cut when the sequel was released. Sony also launched a new Ghostbusters.com and is planning to release a soundtrack to the film.

The anniversary celebration will also include special events and collectible merchandise,

"To celebrate this milestone anniversary, we wanted to create something new and collectible for fans. These new 'Ghostbusters' Blu-rays will feature the highest quality presentation along with new content that reflects the rich history of this iconic franchise," Lexine Wong, Senior Vice President of worldwide marketing for Sony Pictures Home Entertainment, said in a statement.

Last month, The Wrap reported that producers were looking for a director for "Ghostbusters III."
