January Jones Talks About Her Son’s Father

January Jones may be known for her roles as Betty Draper of "Mad Men" and Emma Frost of "X-Men: First Class", but none of these roles are as important as being a mother.

Jones, 35, is the mother to 20-month old Xander and the actress made headlines when she gave birth to her son and the identity of his father had remained unknown.

The New York Times spoke to Jones and when asked about the paternity of her son.

"That's my son's business" and "it's not the public's business."

The actress has publicly dated "Saturday Night Live" star Jason Sudeikis, Josh Groban and Ashton Kutcher.

Jones credits dealing with the media and protecting her privacy from a conversation with a veteran in the business.

"Jack Nicholson once told me: 'You should never give your personal life away, otherwise people will pick you apart," she said. "They'll never believe in your character.'"

The "Mad Men" star said "women should have a lot of secrets" and "it's our right to have secrets. Otherwise, what would we write in our memoirs?"

In several interviews, Jones has explained how she ate her son's placenta after giving birth to him. It was like taking a vitamin blended into a smoothie.

"I'm a mammal," she said. "I nursed. I did all kinds of weird stuff."

Jones also discussed her character Betty Draper and that Betty "is really searching for something, but doesn't know herself well enough to know what might make her happy.

"She has a childlike emotional response to things," she said. "You have to treat that very, very tenderly."

"Mad Men" airs on AMC every Sunday at 10p.m.
