Microsoft rolled out an update on Tuesday for the Office for iPad that will allow users to print Word, Excel and PowerPoint files using any supported printer.
Early this month, director of program management for the tech company Eric Wilfrid acknowledged the issues and suggestions made by users in a blog post: "In the app store we’ve heard some great feedback already. Many of you are missing printing, Pivot Tables and movie playback, to name a few. And we’d like to know more — what else would you love to do with Office for iPad?"
With 33 days left until the launch, Microsoft announced its new push on a company blog post.
"Last month, we launched Office for iPad with the robust capabilities and familiar look and feel of Microsoft Office, plus a fantastic touch experience built for iPad. Millions of people downloaded Word, Excel, and PowerPoint for iPad and thousands sent us feature requests," the statement read.
Aside from the printing feature, the update also includes SmartGuides in PowerPoint, Autofit for Excel, and several other improvements and bug fixes.
The SmartGuides allow users to align images, shapes and textboxes within the Powerpoint slide with ease. The Autofit lets users adjust the width and height of rows and columns simultaneously in just a few taps.
According to InformationWeek, the update was made after criticisms from those who downloaded Office for iPad. Over 12 million users downloaded the program during the first week of its debut, and many were disappointed that printing wasn't included in the features.
The software giant seems very eager to improve its Office for iPad, following a report that the company received 150 percent revenue growth on Windows Azure because of the sales of Office 365. The app currently has 4.4 million subscribers and is expected to increase as soon as the Office 365 Personal for Apple devices launches.
