Pop-Tarts New Flavors: Kellog Goes Nuts With Peanut Butter Treats

Pop-Tarts flavors are getting even nuttier with the announcement of two new choices for toaster pastry lovers.

The Kellogg Company announced it's adding Gone Nutty Peanut Butter and Gone Nutty Chocolate Peanut Butter to its flavor offerings, according to MSN Money.

The Chocolate Peanut Butter flavor is described as "chocolate crust wrapped around filling made with real peanut butter and topped with frosting" on the Pop-Tart website. The Peanut Butter Flavor is described as "crunchy peanut butter-flavored crust enveloping a filling made with real, creamy peanut butter and sprinkled with sugar."

Peanut butter flavors have not been a part of the Pop-Tart pallet since 1986 when the brand discontinued the peanut butter and jelly Pop-Tart, according to International Business Times. But peanut butter has been on the wish lists of die-hard fans for years.

"Peanut butter has long been the most requested flavor by our fans," Dick Podiak , director of marketing for Pop-Tarts said in a statement. "We think everyone will agree it was worth the wait once they taste these delicious new varieties."

According to NASDAQ, the new flavors are part of Kellogg's approach to appeal to a teen market. The company also announced on its Facbeook page that it will be travelling around the country this summer to hand out the new flavors for free, including already targeting college campuses.

New flavors are available in grocery stores.
