Two men who are registered sex offenders have been arrested in the murders of four women in Orange County, California, the New York Daily News reported.
Authorities also suspect the men are responsible for the deaths of more women, the Los Angeles Times reported.
Franc Cano, 27, and Steven Dean Gordon, 45, were arrested Friday, Anaheim police Lieutenant Bob Dunn told the LA Times. The men were charged with the murders of four women, three of whom were missing since the end of 2013 in Santa Ana. The body of one woman was found naked at a trash-sorting center last month.
Investigators suspect the men have move victims on their hands .
"There is a possibility there are more victims, and we are and have been working with many jurisdictions throughout California as well as the rest of the United States," Dunn told the LA Times. "We need to make sure that our net is wide so we can see if there are any other missing persons that might have ended up in California."
After Estepp's body was found, a joint investigation between Santa Ana and Anaheim police led to the suspects' arrests.
The four victims are 20-year-old Kianna Jackson; Monique Vargas, 34; Martha Anaya, 28; and Jarrae Estepp, 21.
Jackson, Vargas and Anaya were last seen in October and November 2013, the newspaper reported.
Estepp was found dead, naked on a conveyor belt at a trash-sorting facility in Anaheim on March 14. Her mother, Jodi Estepp, said she was glad the police finally made an arrest in connection to her daughter's death.
"I was absolutely relieved. Now I want to know why. Why did they choose these women?" the mother told the LA Times.
An Oklahoma-based nonprofit said they were in contact with Estepp in Oklahoma City in 2012. Estepp appeared in several YouTube videos about street life, the newspaper reported.
The three other women were said to be in neighborhoods known for drugs and prostitution. Dunn said the investigation into their backgrounds is ongoing, the LA Times reported.
