Virginia Man, David Seafolk-Kopp, Shot While Kayaking In Chesapeake Bay

A Virginia man was shot while kayaking in the Chesapeake Bay on Saturday night, WTOP reported.

David Seafolk-Kopp, 56, had reached Bodkin Creek when he heard people shouting and noticed a campfire. When he looked down, he saw a red laser dot on his stomach and was subsequently shot.

After blacking out from the incident, Seafolf-Kopp eventually made it to shore when a resident noticed him and called 911.

He was then rushed to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center, where he was treated and then released, Maryland Natural Resources Police spokeswoman Candy Thomson told WTOP.

On Monday, police officers with Natural Resources plan to search the area in Anne Arundel County where the shooting took place.

"It's a little surprising. This is an older community on the water, so it's a little bit shocking and sad that someone would do that," resident Gus Andujar told WBAL-TV.

Authorities do not have any suspects and are unsure of a motive at this time. Anyone with information on the investigation is asked to call (410) 260 - 8888.
