A 10-year-old girl was fatally shot inside of a Pennsylvania home on Monday, the Post-Gazette reported.
Taniyah Thomas died of a gunshot wound to the head, according to the Washington County Coroner.
The shooting occurred around 3:50 a.m. 450 W. Chestnut St. in Washington.
Taniyah was a fourth-grader at Washington Park School. According to an administrative assistant in the Washington School District, Superintendent Roberta DiLorenzo is at the elementary school where school officials are planning a crisis intervention.
Further details on the shooting were not released. Police are preparing for a news conference to be held later in the day, the AP said.
Earlier this month, a 5-year-old boy in California was fatally shot in what police called an "accidental" shooting.
On March 4, police arrived at the boy's home in Nuevo where they discovered his body.
Neighbor Juan Herrar told ABC News that the child grabbed a gun at the house and accidentally shot himself, but police have not confirmed that information.
