"Don't be a blockhead."
That's the advice San Diego Superior Judge Dwayne Moring gave 56-year-old Peter Robbins. Moring's was quoting a line from the classic "Peanuts" television special with Charlie Brown.
Robbins, the original voice of Charlie Brown, pled guilty to stalking his ex-girlfriend and threatening her plastic surgeon.
Robbins admitted to leaving dozens of phone messages for his former girlfriend and then demanding her plastic surgeon return the $12,000 that Robbins had spent for breast surgery. According to reports, Robbins was not pleased with how the surgery turned out.
He was sentenced to a year in jail but was immediately released to a residential drug treatment center. He also received five years' probation and must undergo treatment for domestic violence and stalking. Robbins was also ordered to pay the plastic surgeon $15,082 in restitution and cannot contact the surgeon for 10 years. If Robbins violates the terms of his probation he could be sent to jail for nearly four years.
According to the Huffington Post, as Robbins choked back tears he told the judge treatment was the best option for him and the first steps to becoming "the fun-loving person" he was. Robbins also said he offered apologies to his ex-girlfriend and the surgeon "for any fear that I caused."
The Huffington Post reports prosecutors said Robbins called his girlfriend 37 times over a 24 hour period, threatening to kill her and her son if she didn't return his dog or car. Allegedly he called the plastic surgeon so frequently that she moved to a hotel and hired an armed guard. He wanted a refund for his ex-girlfriend's breast surgery.
Robbins starred as Charlie Brown in the 1965 debut "A Charlie Brown Christmas" and held the role in five other television specials, including "It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown" in 1966.
