Officials from the Los Angeles Police Department are looking into claims that "Scandal" star Columbus Short was involved in a bar fight that ended in one man's hospitalization.

Short allegedly got into a scuffle on March 15 at Gabe's Bar and Grill in the Rancho Park neighborhood of LA, the Huffington Post reported.

While celebrating an engagement, an unidentified person partying at the bar made a comment to the actor, who plays Harrison Wright on ABC's hit drama "Scandal."

TMZ reported that the partygoer said something about Short's wife.

Law enforcement officials told the Contra Costa Times that they believed the man said, "You might be richer than me, but I get my girls to buy me everything I want, including your wife."

Short then allegedly delivered a single sucker punch to the man, rendering him unconscious with a broken nose.

The 37-year-old victim was immediately transferred to a hospital in the area.

The LAPD is treating this case as a criminal investigation.

This isn't the first time Short has been involved in a violent exchange - four years ago, he reportedly broke a man's jaw during a basketball game. He also knocked out some of the man's teeth, the Contra Costa Times reported.

Jason Hill filed a restraining order against Short after the actor allegedly attacked him in the midst of a pick-up match at an L.A. Fitness gymnasium.

In addition to his role alongside Kerry Washington on "Scandal," Short has also starred in "Cadillac Records" and "Death at a Funeral." The actor, who also choreographs and sings, worked as a dancer for Britney Spears. The Huffington Post reported he had a short romance with the singer as well.
