Kim Kardashian just landed her first Vogue cover. The 33-year-old reality TV star appears on the April 2014 issue in a strapless, white Lanvin wedding gown with her rapper fiance Kanye West standing behind her with his arms wrapped around her waist.

The cover is glamorous and beautiful. According to E! News, celebrity photographer Annie Leibovitz shot the cover and the inside spread which includes more shots of the couple with their daughter North West.

"This is such a dream come true!! Thank you @VogueMagazine for this cover! O M GGGGGG!! I can't even...," Kardashian tweeted.

"#TRILL Thank you @voguemagazine," West wrote on Twitter.

The decision to put Kardashian, a reality TV star who rose to fame because of a sex tape, on the cover probably comes as a surprise (maybe a disappointment) to many people. Just check out some of the Twitter reactions here.

In the editor's letter Anna Wintour explained her reasoning for including what Vogue calls the "#worldsmosttalkedaboutcouple" on the cover.

"Part of the pleasure of editing Vogue, one that lies in a long tradition of this magazine, is being able to feature those who define the culture at any given moment, who stir things up, whose presence in the world shapes the way it looks and influences the way we see it," she wrote, the Daily Mail reports. "I think we can all agree on the fact that that role is currently being played by Kim and Kanye to a T. (Or Perhaps that should be to a K?)"

"As for the cover, my opinion is that it is both charming and touching, and it was, I should add, entirely our idea to do it; you may have read that Kanye begged me to put his fiancée on Vogue's cover," Wintour continued. "He did nothing of the sort. The gossip might make better reading, but the simple fact of the matter is that it isn't true."

There were reports that West had several meetings with Wintour to try and persuade the fashion editor to put the reality star on the cover. According to those reports, Wintour wouldn't budge.

"There's barely a strand of the modern media that the Kardashian Wests haven't been able to master, and for good reason: Kanye is an amazing performer and cultural provocateur, while Kim, through her strength of character, has created a place for herself in the glare of the world's spotlight, and it takes real guts to do that," Wintour concluded.

What do you think? Do you agree or disagree with Anna Wintour's reasoning for putting Kim Kardashian and Kanye West on the cover of Vogue?
