Break Out Of Your Winter Funk With These Spring 2014 Fashion Trends

Celebrities are usually the first to don the season's hottest trends, and it seems things will not be any different this spring. Stars including Keira Knightley, Diane Kruger and Alessandra Ambrosio are stepping out in what is said to be one of spring 2014's biggest trends- overalls.

"Overalls are the fashion statement version of denim," Seth Weisser, co-owner of vintage clothing store What Goes Around Comes Around in Manhattan, told the New York Daily News. "You have to be a little bit more confident in a fashion sense to wear overalls."

Model Ambrosio wore a white tank top underneath her overalls several weeks ago in Los Angeles, the Daily News reported. Knightley has been seen wearing her overalls, from Citizens of Humanity, since December. Kruger, from the TV show "The Bridge," was seen on her way to the vet in overalls and ballet flats.

Overalls have appeared on the runways of Ralph Lauren, Donna Karen and Rag & Bone.

Not excited about the overall trend? Relax- there are plenty of other styles that are "in" this spring.

High-waisted jeans are also dominating the spring 2014 trend list. Nicknamed "mom jeans," the high-waisted denim has not been a must-wear item since the '80s, according to BuzzFeed Business.

"It hits the millennials because it's cool and new and it hits the little bit older customer who just needs more coverage," Susan Kellogg, VF president who oversees 7 for All Mankind, Splendid and Ella Moss, told BuzzFeed. "So whenever a trend like that is so commercial it means money."

As far as the colored jeans trend of past seasons is concerned, it "pretty much has peaked," Kellogg said.

According to Harper's Bazaar and Glamour magazines, button down shirts with contrast collars are in.

"The crisp, menswear-inspired dress shirt enjoys a makeover with inventively cool, contrasting color and/or textured collars and cuffs," Glamour magazine reported.

Designers like Christian Dior, Alexander Wang, Altuzarra and Costello Tagliapietra have all sent models in collared shirts parading down the runway.
