Scarlett Johansson Responds to Dylan Farrow's Open Letter Concerning Woody Allen Molestation Allegations

Scarlett Johansson has responded to an open letter penned by Dylan Farrow that accused adoptive father Woody Allen of molestation over 20 years ago.

Johansson, who has worked closely with Allen in films like "Match Point" and "Scoop" said she regarded Farrow's calling out various actors and actresses in the letter as "irresponsible" during an interview with UK newspaper The Guardian.

"I think it's irresponsible to take a bunch of actors that will have a Google alert on and to suddenly throw their name into a situation that none of us could possibly knowingly comment on," Johansson told the paper in a piece published over the weekend. "That just feels irresponsible to me."

Farrow named 29-year-old Johansson, who also starred in Allen's 2008 film "Vicky Cristina Barcelona," and a few other celebrities in her letter, which she released last month, Newsday reported.

"What if it had been you, Emma Stone?" Farrow wrote in her New York Times letter. "Or you, Scarlett Johansson?"

But Johansson said she had no idea there had been a storm of negative attention after decades of sexual assault allegations against Woody Allen.

"I'm unaware that there's been a backlash," Johansson responded to reporters' questions of public opinion of the famed director and actor. "I think he'll continue to know what he knows about the situation, and I'm sure the other people involved have their own experience with it. It's not like this is somebody that's been prosecuted and found guilty of something, and you can then go, 'I don't support this lifestyle,' or whatever. I mean, it's all guesswork."

But the newly engaged actress said the issues surround Allen's familial history didn't change the admiration she held for him.

"I don't know anything about it," she stated. "It would be ridiculous for me to make any kind of assumption one way or the other."

Allen has been a part of a tangled web of rumors and accusations that has plagued the family for years.

Woody Allen and Mia Farrow had multiple children with one another, including Dylan and a handful of adopted kids. After 12 years together, Farrow discovered Allen was having relations with one of their adopted daughters, Soon-Yi, who has since married the director.

The same year Soon-Yi and Allen started dating, Dylan came forward with allegations that Allen had touched her inappropriately.
