Chris Brown Arrested After Showing Up at Malibu Rehab Facility

Los Angeles County sheriff's deputies took singer Chris Brown into custody on Friday.

Chris Brown was arrested at about 2 p.m., after he arrived at a Malibu rehab facility, the Los Angeles Times reported.

Sheriff's officials told the Times that Brown had a warrant out for his arrest due to a violation of probation stemming from his 2009 assault conviction with ex-girlfriend Rihanna.

A statement from the Sheriff's Department confirmed Brown was "cooperative" when deputies took him in on Friday.

The "Wildcat" singer is currently being held with no bail in a downtown Los Angeles jail.

A judge had instructed rehab facility officials to call the police if Brown went to the treatment center, according to members of the sheriff's department who spoke with the LA Times.

Authorities were called on Friday when Brown showed up. Police warned rehab officials that Chris Brown would be arrested on-site when they arrived. Once the singer's warrant was verified, deputies from the Sheriff's Department arrested him.

According to the LA Times, it's still unclear how Brown violated probation.

Probation Deputy Chief Reaver Bingham told the Los Angeles Times that a "court has to evaluate and consider" a report submitted by his department concerning a reported probation violation. He told reporters he couldn't comment further.

Mark Geragos, Brown's attorney, didn't offer comment when contacted by the Los Angeles Times.

Chris Brown was sent to a 90-day anger management program in November, where he was expected to finish three days of community service for eight hours every week, along with drug tests.

But Brown reportedly violated his probation requirement to "obey all laws," the LA Times reported, and prosecutors called for his arrest in February.
