Lil Wayne Announces Retirement: 'Tha Carta V' Will Be Rapper's Final Solo Album: 'It Will Be Impossible For Me To Work This Hard Again'

Lil Wayne has confirmed his next solo album will be his last as he announces his retirement as a rap artist.

In an interview with MTV news, the rapper was adamant about the "Tha Carter V" will be his final project as a solo artist. "Tha Carter V" expected to be released on May 5, but the date is subject to change, according to an MTV source.

"I personally plan on this being my final solo album, yes and it's definitely the final Carter album. It's the final Carter album. It's stopping at five," Wayne told MTV.

"I plan on it being my final solo album," he added. "Whenever I have to pitch in for a Young Money album, a Like Father, Like Son album and something like that and maybe something out the blue."

Wayne assured MTV he's working extremely hard on his final solo album and wouldn't dedicate as much of himself to any other project.

"It seems like it will be impossible for me to work this hard again for anything else," the rapper said.

As to what could make Wayne create another "Tha Carter" album after his fifth, the rapper told MTV, "25 to 35 million would get me to do another solo album after this."

"Tha Carta V" might be his final solo album, but Wayne still plans on collaborating with his Young Money artists, including Drake, Nicki Minaj and Tyga.

Hopefully Wayne's last solo album can top his past sales records. According to Billboard, "Tha Carta IV" sold 964,000 copies its first week on store shelves.

However, "Tha Carta III" sold more than 1 million copies comparatively. Considering it will be his final solo album, Wayne's record may be on its way to become the best selling of 2014.
