Donors Urge Biden to Reevaluate Support for Israel

Following the continuous tension between Israel and Palestine, Biden has received a letter from a group of Democratic donors encouraging him to reevaluate the US's unflinching support for Israel.

A letter has been signed by influential donors to Democratic campaigns, taking attention to the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and its potential impact on American politics.

More than 30,000 Palestinians have died in the fighting with Israel, according to Gaza health officials. This devastating toll has sparked considerable resentment and protests in Democratic circles. Protesters have begun to follow President Biden around public meetings, demanding a cease-fire and an end to US military assistance to Israel.

A group of individuals who have financially supported Biden's presidential campaigns, ranging from major contributors to smaller donors, have spoken of their disappointment with the administration's approach to the situation.

While certain people have made significant donations to Biden's campaign, others decided to support more progressive initiatives within the Democratic Party.

Particular individuals who have signed include Paul Egerman, a finance co-chairman for Senator Elizabeth Warren's 2020 presidential campaign, as well as David and Elizabeth Steinglass, who have given a total of $1.4 million to Democratic candidates and causes in 2020.

Caroline Gabel, an advocate for the environment, and George Krupp, a prominent supporter of the Democratic party, also added their names to the letter, according to New York Times.

Concerns Mount Over Biden's Support for Israel

Some signatures preferred not to react or did not respond to questions, however George Krupp said he was disappointed in Biden's position on Israel and that he would still financially support the president. The speaker defined the need of adopting a more compassionate approach and minimizing harm to civilians.

The letter raises worries regarding President Biden's apparent unwavering backing of Israel's military actions, which involve supplying weapons that are being used in civilian areas, leading to substantial casualties, especially among women and children. It raises questions about Israel's adherence to international law, including allegations of genocidal actions in Gaza.

The signatories worry that President Biden's campaign for an additional $14.3 billion in military aid to Israel may alienate important Democratic voting bases, and as a result, they are closely monitoring his actions.

A few people contend that growing dissatisfaction within the party may potentially lead to a Trump prevail in the upcoming election.

The Biden administration is reportedly examining Israeli allegations about the use of US weapons and humanitarian supplies in response to the letter.

However, there are refers to raised by human rights organizations like Human Rights Watch and Oxfam regarding Israel's assurances, insisting on the need for increased oversight and accountability, Common Dreams reported.
