The Israeli Defence Forces killed a Hamas military leader during a drone strike in Lebanon, leaders from both groups confirmed on Wednesday.

Hadi Mustafa was a member of the armed wing of Hamas, allegedly responsible for attacking Israelis. A Hamas spokesperson told Reuters that Mustafa was not a senior figure within the organization, while the Israeli military described him as a "significant" target.

Mustafa was reportedly inside his car in a location near the Lebanese city of Tyre. The city is home to 200,000 people, many of whom are refugees. Mustafa was reportedly from the nearby Palestinian refugee camp of Rashidieh, Reuters reported.

A Syrian man who was passing by on a motorcycle was also reportedly killed during the drone strike.

Israel has been carrying out air strikes against the Lebanese military group Hezbollah for several months.
