Most of them said that they think this will happen because of the U.S. president's age and mental stamina. Monmouth University's latest study clarified that Robert Hur's report wasn't able to shift people's opinion on whether Joe Biden mishandled classified documents, which were discovered in the think tank office he uses, as well as in his house.

Although this is the case, the special counsel's report was able to raise more concerns about the American leader's mental and physical health, as reported by Politico.

This is noticeable in the new poll, which revealed that almost half of American voters believe that Biden will be replaced as a Democratic nominee.

"Nearly half the electorate foresees the possibility that Biden may be replaced as the Democratic nominee before November, primarily for health reasons," said Monmouth University via its official study.

Meanwhile, over 33% of poll participants also believe that Donald Trump could be replaced as a Republican presidential nominee. They said that this might happen because of the legal troubles that the former U.S. president currently faces.

U.S. President Joe Biden speaks as he announces a $42 billion investment in high-speed internet infrastructure during an event in the East Room of the White House on June 26, 2023 in Washington, DC.

Many American voters, U.S. officials, and even presidential candidates believe that U.S. President Joe Biden will soon leave the 2024 presidential race.

"[Donald] Trump is going on 78, and the president is 81 years old ... It's the same. They are old, older folks, that are our choices, and that's what this nation wants," said Sen. John Fetterman (Pennsylvania).

But, the question is, who would replace Joe Biden if he really drops out of the U.S. presidential election this 2024?Harris

Kamala Harris: She is considered to be the de facto pick to replace Joe Biden on the general election ticket.

Gov. Gavin Newsom: Newsom is another great replacement for Biden.

Sen. Bernie Sanders: In 2022, he released a memo saying that he hasn't ruled out running for president in 2024. If Joe Biden leaves the presidential race, there's a high chance that Sanders might decide to run.

Aside from these three potential Democratic nominee replacements for Joe Biden, here are other individuals that critics think could replace the U.S. president in the election race:

  • Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker
  • Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer
  • Colorado Gov. Jared Polis
  • Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro
