The Israel Defense Force (IDF) announced on Tuesday (October 31) that it had killed another Hamas commander when an Israeli airstrike hit a refugee camp in northern Gaza.

IDF spokesperson RAdm. Daniel Hagari said in a news conference that Ibrahim Biari, commander of Hamas's Central Jabaliya Battalion, was one of the key leaders responsible for the October 7 attack and became the "main leader" of the group's combat operations since Israeli forces entered Gaza.

The director of a nearby hospital told Sky News that hundreds of people were injured and killed in the blast at the Jabaliya refugee camp.

On the other hand, Ayed al Bazm, a spokesman for Gaza's Hamas-run interior ministry, also said six bombs hit the area, with apartment blocks damaged in the explosions.

Another Hamas Commander Bites the Dust

"A short while ago, IDF fighter jets, acting on ISA intelligence, killed Ibrahim Biari, the Commander of Hamas' Central Jabaliya Battalion," the IDF said in a statement. Biari was one of the leaders responsible for sending 'Nukbha' terrorist operatives to Israel to carry out the murderous terror attack on October 7th."

Hagari also said during the news conference that the targeting of the office building where Biari was based led to the collapse of the buildings.

"The purpose of that infrastructure was to carry out terrorist activities against our forces," he explained. "The entire infrastructure collapsed and many terrorists were killed."

The admiral added that Israel would continue to operate with "full force" in Gaza City as close-quarter and even hand-to-hand combat have been utilized.

Hagari also mentioned an earlier missile and drone attack aimed at Israel's southernmost city of Eilat., which was believed to be launched by Iran-backed Houthis in Yemen.
