Justin Bieber earned the respect of Turkish fans everywhere when he stopped his show during a Muslim call to prayer. According to Yahoo Music, the pop star recognized the Azan.
Azan, also known as the Adhan, is a traditional prayer call that Muslims observe five times a day. Muslims make the calls just after sunset and again in the evening, just before bedtime.
The 19-year old Bieber paused twice during his concert, much to the delight of Turkish fans.
"I'm not a Justin Bieber fan but as a Muslim, I got a lot of respect for him cos of what he did," said a Twitter user, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Another wrote, "You can hate all you want, but he earned my respect." The user added, "Muslim performers don't even do what you did."
"Bieber Fever" seems to be headed in the right direction after a few missteps in the media. Bieber and his crew failed to adhere to airport rules and present travel documents to security officials on Thursday. At the Sabiha Gökçen Airport in Instanbul, Bieber was thoroughly checked by security and was allowed to go.
Bieber's tour received another hiccup when the singer had to cancel his show in Muscat, Oman. Oman, being a strict Islamic nation, deemed Bieber "too sexy", the Huffington Post reported.
Muslim leaders expected that the "moral health" of their women would be compromised if Bieber performed shirtless.
But the teenage-hunk's tour plans continue to roll. Bieber is scheduled to perform in Dubai on Saturday and Sunday. The pop singer will then head to South Africa for a couple of dates.
And finally, Bieber will return to the United States this summer.
