There is an old adage that says, "An army marches with its stomach." The same can still be applied to modern military units, especially in a war.

It has been reported that several fast food chains have been mobilizing not only to support Israel but also - as for Burger King Israel's case - to provide food for the Israel Defense Force (IDF) as they prepare to invade Gaza to defeat Hamas.

In an exclusive report, Newsweek stated that the burger chain announced on Instagram that they would be donating free meals to IDF personnel.

"We went out to strengthen the nation Israel," the post's translated caption said. "Our teams are working diligently to continue donating thousands of meals to our heroes. Burger King sends condolences to the families of the victims."

Pro-Palestine Backlash

Shortly after the post went live, a number of social media users reacted negatively and called for a boycott of the establishment.

In a series of posts on X, formerly Twitter, the Palestinian BDS (Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions) Movement, shared criticism of Burger King Israel and other companies that have shown support for the Middle Eastern country.

"Other companies, including @McDonalds, @Dominos, @PizzaHut, and @PapaJohns have also made generous donations to Israel's genocidal military," it wrote on Monday (October 23), sharing screenshots of the restaurants mentioned aside from Burger King.

In a separate post, the account added that all of the food companies mentioned "deserve to be boycotted and divested from, regardless of the claim that their branches in various countries are wholly or partially owned by local businesses."

Other users also called for the boycott of all food products and services that support Israel.

Burger Rivals Unite to Fill IDF Stomachs

Even Burger King's global fast food archrival, McDonald's, was not left unscathed after its Israeli franchise also expressed its intention via Instagram to donate thousands of free meals to Israeli troops.

"We should stand by our principles and take actions that align with our beliefs," one X user said. "Let's boycott McDonald's [because] supporting companies that are involved in conflicts is wrong, especially when it comes to the loss of innocent lives ... Let's raise awareness and encourage accountability from these brands. Remember, every individual's voice and actions can make a difference in shaping a more just world."

Both Burger King and McDonald's have not immediately responded to Newsweek's requests for comment.
