According to MacRumors' latest report, the coalition of U.S. tech firms claims that the PC restrictions will negatively affect New Delhi's ambitions to become a global manufacturing hub.

Aside from this, Apple and other American businesses said that India's move will harm consumers.

Now, they are asking for assistance from U.S. government officials. Eight American trade groups sent a letter to the U.S. government to encourage India to reconsider the tech import policy.

Apple and other tech firms are doing this since the import policy will impose a new license requirement for technology imports from Nov. 1.

This will cover all the products that these U.S. tech firms sell in India, such as tablets, and laptops. Even data center components and servers will be affected.

The Indian government didn't really explain the main reason behind the restrictions. But, experts said that this new policy is as part of the country's effort to enhance local manufacturing.

The shadow of a man is cast on the wall of an Apple store as he uses his mobile phone in Beijing on August 26, 2019. - There were signs of a thaw in frosty trade-war tensions between China and the US on August 26 as President Donald Trump said delegations would "very shortly" resume talks and Beijing's top negotiator called for "calm".

Via CNBC's latest report, India's Information Technology Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar talked about the country's tech import restrictions.

The Indian official said that the government is trying to ensure that only trusted systems and hardware are imported to the country.

He added that the new restrictions will also help India to reduce its dependence on imports and to increase the domestic manufacturing of laptops and other products.

This means that Apple, Samsung, HP, and other American electronics companies will be required to have the needed licenses if they want to continue importing their tablets and other gadgets into India.

But, these U.S. tech firms warned that India's import restriction move could significantly affect trade, as well as disrupt efforts to further integrated India into global supply chains.
