Republican Senators John McCain and Jeff Flake of Arizona expressed their hope for Governor Jan Brewer to veto a bill that would allow businesses to deny their services to gay patrons, POLITICO reported.

"I hope Governor Brewer will veto #SB1062," McCain tweeted on Monday.

McCain's tweet followed one uploaded by Flake on Saturday, where he shared the same sentiment.

"I hope Governor Brewer vetoes SB 1062," Flake said on Twitter.

On Thursday, the Arizona Senate passed the bill. Once the bill arrives in her office, Brewer has five days to veto it or it will become law. According to ABC 15, the bill had not arrived to her office as of Sunday.

The extremely controversial bill has sparked a national debate over the definition of religious freedom and discrimination.

A pizzeria in Tucson made headlines after they chided state legislators for the bill and posted a sign, reading "We reserve the right to refuse service to Arizona legislators."

The eatery uploaded a picture of the sign hanging on Facebook, which was shared over 9,000 times and has more than 23,000 likes.

"Funny how just being decent is starting to seem radical these days," read a caption accompanying the picture.

Greater Phoenix Economic Council President and CEO Barry Broome suggested the governor should veto the legislation, citing four companies that have already put their plans to open facilities in Arizona on hold until they see if the bill is enacted.

"This is coming out of left field ... from a bunch of demagogues who don't care about Arizona's future," Broome said. "I think the political consequences are gonna be greater than people might think.
