Comcast SportsNet Chicago fired reporter Susannah Collins in the aftermath of an on-air "sex" slip.
The can comes two days after Collins' "sex" slip on live television. The Chicago Tribune reports, however, that she was not fired because of the on-air mistake, but because of the series of controversial Youtube videos that she appears in.
The videos surfaced after Collins' slip went viral. The Youtube videos, from three years ago, feature Collins and another female host in a series of vulgar, sports-related videos. The videos seem intended for humor, but they contain material that could be considered offensive.
"Due to circumstances unrelated to her on-air remarks Tuesday night, Susannah Collins and Comcast SportsNet Chicago have parted ways. We appreciate everything Susannah has contributed to our network over the past year and wish her the best in her future endeavors," a statement released by Comcast said.
Collins incident occurred Tuesday night on live television. She was part of the Comcast broadcasting team covering the NHL's Chicago Blackhawks. Poised in front of the Blackhawk locker room, she said, "...and despite the fact they've had such a tremendous amount of sex this season."
She meant to say "success" and quickly corrected her inadvertent mistake, but the damage was done. Collins became an overnight sensation on the Internet.
Collins has worked as a reporter for Showtime Sports, the NFL Network and occasionally CBS in New York.
She has made no comment since her termination.
