Gladiators, last night's episode of "Scandal" did not disappoint.
There was Cyrus plotting ways to oust Olivia, Cyrus' man landing a big-wig job, mystery man in the baseball cap was finally identified, the mole was revealed (or so we thought) and the President's marriage is probably over, for real this time. It was one juicy, edge-of-your-seat episode. If you have not watched the episode yet, you might want to stop reading this now before I break-down, revisit and reveal all the details of last night's "Scandal".
After everything that happened between Jake and Olivia she no longer wants Jake trailing her every move. However, her apartment was broken into and he seems like he genuinely wants to protect her.
Mellie moved out the White House and the Chief of Staff are freaking out. They demanded Cyrus fix it... and fast. Cyrus tries to talk to Mellie who refuses to move back in. She tells Cyrus the President has 36 hours to come and apologize to her in person or she's going public and airing all of Fitz's dirty laundry. She will tell the word he's a cheater and Cyrus believes her. He tries to talk to Mellie, Fitz and Liv about the situation but no pays him much attention.
In the meantime, Cyrus' husband, James, has big news... really big news. He was offered an on-camera position with BNC. We know from previous episodes, James likes to meddle and has fought with Cyrus over stories he chased in the past. Cyrus, clearly distracted by the Mellie drama, doesn't utter one complaint about his husband's new job. He will later regret that.
Back at OPA, the team is pouring over footage trying to identify the mystery man in the baseball cap. Immediately Huck, who was trying to pull himself together in last week's episode, ID's the man as Charlie. They start connecting the dots and believe Cyrus is the mole. Olivia is hesitant to accuse Cyrus of being the mole and wants her team to dig a little deeper.
She wants to be 100 percent sure this time because the last time they made an accusation about who the mole was he ended up dead. Later in the episode, it's revealed that Cyrus is not the mole.
Back at the White House, Cryus is still trying to smooth things over with Mellie but none of his attempts are working. After fruitless attempts, he comes up with a different plan and suggests to the First Lady that he could "get rid of Olivia." Things get interesting, pretty fast. He tries to weasel his way into Pope's apartment with no success. Olivia confronts Fitz and tells him they are done (for the hundredth time) but this time Fitz believes her.
The episode comes to an end with the President deciding to wait out the rest of the 36 hours with Olivia at her apartment while James sits down with Mellie for a live interview. The countdown to Fitz's apology runs out and for a second it seems like Mellie won't follow through with her threat. But at the last minute the First Lady does follow through and tells the world how the President of the United States cheated on his wife.
In a sneak peek from next week's episode Cyrus tells Liv that Mellie is going to tell everyone who the mistress is and the mole is finally revealed. Do you think Mellie will give the world Liv's name? And who do you think the mole is?
Here's a peek of next week's eposide.
