Some members of the Wisconsin National Guard are facing disciplinary action for posting a "distasteful" photo on Instagram.
The photo, which depicts a group of 14 soldiers posing, smiling and hugging around a model casket draped in the American flag, was posted on social media with the caption, "We put the FUN in FUNeral."
There was said to be no body in the casket at the time, which was reportedly used as a "training" coffin, according to National Guard officials at the facility in North Little Rock, Ark. where the cadets shot the snap.
Authorities are still unsure where some of the other soldiers featured in the picture are based, according to My San Antonio.
Wisconsin National Guard officials were shocked and offended by the picture, calling it "controversial and distasteful."
Spc. Terry Harrison, part of the 1st Battalion, 147th Aviation Regiment, was indefinitely suspended from his position in the Madison, Wisconsin-based group, as he posted the picture on social media initially.
Some of the people in the photo are members of the military's funeral honors detail, according to the report by My San Antonio.
Director of public affairs for the Wisconsin National Guard Maj. Paul Rickert released a statement on the issue in which he stressed the severity of the post and its implications.
"A military funeral is the final show of respect for our veterans and their families, and we take that solemn duty very seriously," Rickert wrote. "The very name 'military funeral honors' underscores the importance we ascribe - both as the military and society at large - to such solemn occasions. These photos and comments do not appear to align with those values."
It's unclear what kind of disciplinary action the remaining 13 soldiers will face for the Instagram post.
