Russian drone and missile attacks overnight hit Kyiv, Lviv, Kharkiv, and Odesa, triggering air raid sirens nationwide.

Russia launched a massive missile attack across Ukraine that resulted in the deaths of six civilians, a power outage, and a nuclear power plant that was forced off the grid on Thursday.

The longest period of tranquility since Russia started its effort to destroy Ukraine's civilian infrastructure five months ago was broken by the first barrage of missile attacks since mid-February in the Russia-Ukraine war, per Reuters.

Kyiv, Lviv, Kharkiv, and Odesa were targeted by a barrage of Russian drone and missile attacks overnight, prompting air raid sirens throughout the nation, according to Ukrainian authorities,

The commander of Ukraine's armed forces said that on Thursday morning, Russia had launched 81 missiles into Ukrainian territory, including six kinzhal hypersonic missiles that Ukraine's air force was unable to shoot down, according to CNBC.

In a statement, Ukrainian President Vloldymyr Zelensky said that Russian forces "can only terrorize civilians. That's all they can do. But it won't help them."

He added that Russia will not escape from "responsibility for everything they have done," depicting the Russia missile attack that destroyed residential buildings and civilian infrastructures in 10 regions amid the Russia-Ukraine war.

Russia Confirms Revenge Attack

After what Vladimir Putin termed a "terrorist attack" in Russia's Bryansk area, which borders Ukraine, last week, Russia's Defence Ministry said its troops had carried out a "massive retaliatory strike" against Ukrainian infrastructure, per Al Jazeera.

Last week, Russian President Vladimir Putin accused Ukraine of carrying out a "terrorist act" in Russia's Byansk area, within the borders of the two countries, according to an earlier HNGN report.

Vitali Klitschko, the mayor of Kyiv, said that a series of explosions from the Russian missile attack had damaged the city's electricity infrastructure and wounded many residents.

In his most recent Telegram message, Klitschko claimed that 40% of the city's users are now without heat as a result of unexpected power interruptions after the Russia missile attack.
