Truth Social, a social networking site run by former president Donald Trump, has been rejected by Google for inclusion in its Google Play store.

Truth Social, a network supported by former president Donald Trump, claims to offer open, free, and honest worldwide dialogue; however, Google's Play store is one location where users will have to pay to utilize the site.

Google Declines To Approve Trump's Truth Social on App Store

Google informed Truth Social on August 19 about many violations of standard norms in their current app submission, according to a statement provided to CBS MoneyWatch.

Truth Social, which launched early this year and has since had difficulty finding advertisers, is now facing another  obstacle as a result of the problem with Google. The business is also said to have fallen behind on payments to one of its suppliers; as-reported-by  Fox News, the firm owes its web hosting provider roughly $1.6 million.

The success of the social media network will depend on its ability to draw in enough users to persuade businesses to pay for promotions. However, given that 4 in 10 mobile phones utilize Google's Android operating system, receiving a rejection from the Google Play store may hinder Truth Social's capacity to attract new users.

According to a representative for Google, apps must have effective procedures for regulating user-generated content in order to be accepted into the Play app store. The New York Times, which first reported the conflict between Truth Social and Google, the company only recently began creating an Android app, even though Truth Social has been accessible on the Apple App Store since early 2022.

In a statement released on Tuesday, Trump Media & Technology Group claimed that it had constantly worked in good faith with Google to ensure that the Truth Social Android App complies with Google's policies without compromising our promise to be a haven for free speech. It also claimed that independent observers had referred to its terms of service as among the most robust in the industry.

The business claims that making physical threats or encouraging violence are violations of Google's rules on Truth Social. Devin Nunes, a former congressman who now runs Truth Social, however, assigned Google the blame for the delay last week. In a Real America's Voice video, he said, "I don't know what's taking so long."

Trump's Truth Social Previously Rejected from Trademark Application

According to Google, Nunes' remarks misrepresent the conversation between the firms. Truth Social is also encountering other difficulties. The US Patent and Trademark Office rejected the company's request to trademark its name earlier this month on the grounds that it is too similar to the names of other companies.

The company's merger with blank-check company Digital World Acquisition Corp. (DWAC) is also having issues, the agency said. DWAC earlier this week warned that the company's success could be tarnished due to adverse reactions to publicity relating to President Trump, including if further controversies damage his credibility.

Additionally, DWAC cautioned earlier this month in a regulatory filing that a number of regulatory inquiries could hurt the DWAC and TMTG merger. The company had recently received subpoenas from the SEC seeking different records detailing, among other things, our due diligence involving TMTG and they had also been served with grand jury subpoenas requesting related material, according to CBS News.

Truth Social has remained accessible on Apple devices since its February release as an iOS app. There was no other way to access the app until May, but it now offers a web version that Android phones may access.

Truth Social positions itself as a free speech app and has laxer rules than several popular social media platforms. Some violent posts do have warning flags added by the corporation, but they are nonetheless permitted to remain on the platform.

The main purpose of the app's launch was to give Trump and his followers a method to stay in touch and coordinate after the former president was barred from Twitter, Facebook, and other social media site, as per Independent.
