Polish football superstar Robert Lewandowski disclosed how Barcelona boss Xavi Hernandez convinced him to transfer to the Camp Nou during an informal meeting in Ibiza this summer.

Robert Lewandowski's move to the Blaugrana was finalized on Saturday when the striker left Bayern Munich in a deal that El Pais claims is worth €60 million ($61 million). According to a Mirror report, Bayern was thrilled with the amount they got for the striker, who will turn 34 next month.

Lewandowski has admitted that he met Barca manager Xavi in Ibiza earlier this summer when the two were both visiting the Spanish island at the same time. The striker contends that the manager used a sales pitch to convince him to sign with Camp Nou this season.

In an interview with Bild, Lewandowski revealed that Xavi has a plan to bring back Barca "to the top".

"I met him in Ibiza by chance, but we had a good chemistry right away and he told me: I will wait for you, we will work well together and we can win many titles," he noted.

Lewandowski has been a vital player as Bayern has humiliated Barcelona on the European stage numerous times in recent years. The German champions embarrassed Barca 8-2 in the Champions League quarterfinals in 2020 and twice defeated them 3-0 in the group stages of the competition last season, sending the Blaugrana struggle into the Europa League.

Lewandowski Has a Mission in Barcelona

The veteran forward maintained that he could contribute to turning around the team's fortunes. He noted that while Barcelona had difficulties in the previous session, the team now holds great potential.

"Now they have made great signings, and the club is on the right path to getting back to the top. My goal is to win titles with Barca," he said.

In the meantime, Robert Lewandowski recently sent his first message to Barcelona supporters as a player on the team via a video uploaded on social media from a life guard tower on a Florida beach, per Marca.

He said in his message: "I am very happy to join Barcelona, I am very happy to be here. It was very easy to decide to come to Barcelona. Barcelona is back. I think I can help to put the team back at the top of European football. I like winning trophies and this is a new chapter for me, with new challenges. This was an opportunity for me privately. I have always wanted to play in LaLiga and for a big team. I've already been speaking to Xavi and I know about his ideas. He was a great player and has a great future ahead of him as a coach."

With the rest of their new additions, including Raphinha, Andreas Christensen, and Franck Kessie, Barcelona must ensure they have the financial capacity to sign Lewandowski for the upcoming season.

Lewandowski, a striker for Bayern, adopted the #9 jersey as his own, earning him the nickname RL9.

Unfortunately, as per a report from Barca Universal, he might not enjoy the same benefit at Barcelona because Memphis Depay already has that number. But, according to a Marca source, the team wants to offer Lewandowski the #9 jersey for "several reasons."

Cristiano Ronaldo Stays With Manchester

Meanwhile, it seems incredibly unlikely that Cristiano Ronaldo will sign with Bayern Munich this summer mostly because club representatives have publicly stated their lack of interest in the Manchester United superstar three times.

Ronaldo expressed his desire to leave Manchester United this summer, but there are no available choices, as per a report from TalkSport.

The international player from Portugal desires to play for a Champions League team. However Bayern denied having any interest in bringing the forward on their roster.
