Two Atlanta Women Injured After Grocery Store Shooting; Gunman Opens Fire at Lawrenceville Kroger, No Employees Wounded

Two women were injured after an unidentified shooter opened fire in a suburban Atlanta supermarket.

According to the police spokesperson in Lawrenceville, Ga., the two women inside a Kroger grocery store were shot on Monday afternoon.

Greg Vaughn also told the Associated Press that two suspected shooters have been arrested and taken into police custody.

According to a report by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, one of the victims was shot in her torso, while the other sustained leg wounds.

It's unclear at this point what caused the shooter to open fire, but Vaughn stated that the initial investigation seems to indicate the three were involved in some kind of argument. Police are waiting to release more details, pending the probe.

Both of the women did not sustain life-threatening injuries, but were immediately rushed to a nearby medical facility to receive treatment for their wounds.

Kroger officials released a statement shortly after the shooting, saying that the store had been "evacuated and will reopen at a later date."

Police are reportedly working with employees and staff at the supermarket to figure out how and why this incident occurred.

Kroger higher-ups told the Associated Press that none of the store's workers sustained wounds from the shooting.
