Six-month-year-old Kayden Powell who went missing from a home in the middle of the night was found Friday morning at an Iowa gas station and a suspect has been taken into custody, CNN reported.
The women who took Powell, Kristen Rose Smith, arrived at the home during the night and said she was Powell's mother's half sister, according to CNN. She also said She, the childs mother Brianna Marshall and the baby's father were all moving to Colorado.
The baby was found outside a gas station covered with blankets inside a tote bag according to Town of Beloit, Wisconsin, police Chief Steven Kopp, CNN reported.
"Despite frigid temperatures, Kayden was found alive, and appears to be doing very well," Kopp said. "In the words of EMS officials, he is in excellent health." "We're all very, very fortunate that this baby is alive," Jones said, according to CNN.
No charges have been filed against Smith, but she was jailed for an unrelated fraud warrant from Texas on Thursday, CNN reported.
Police found baby clothes while searching her car after she was arrested on Thursday but the baby was not there and investigators began to search the area for the baby, according to CNN.
Rock County Sheriff Robert Spoden said state and federal prosecutors will meet soon to decide if charges will be filed in the boy's disappearance, CNN reported.
