Despite not having Derrick Rose for the second straight season, Chicago (24-24) has found ways to win and sit No. 6 in the Eastern Conference playoff standings. Jimmy Butler and D.J. Augustin have stepped up in the Bulls' backcourt and helped Chicago to a 101-92 win over the Phoenix Suns by scoring 18 points apiece, ESPN reports.
"That's the mark of our team. That's Chicago Bulls basketball and we got back to it tonight," Bulls forward Carlos Boozer told the team website, via ESPN. "We gathered ourselves and took it to them. It felt great to be out there helping with my guys and help us win."
Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau credits his team with battling through adversity to keep in contention for a postseason berth.
"You could have used an excuse if you chose to do so, but that's what I love about the team," he said. "They come out and they're going to fight. They picked themselves up and did it together."
Golden State (29-20), meanwhile, has cooled down after their hot start. The Warriors have lost five of their last 10 games, including a 91-75 blowout on Tuesday by the Charlotte Bobcats.
"We are thinking a little bit too much," Warriors coach Mark Jackson said. "We are just not playing at a high level when we miss shots. We are too good of a basketball team and have come too far along in the process. ... That's the disappointing part. We have to get it back and we will."
