Oklahoma City (33-10) continues to find ways to win without guard Russell Westbrook. Kevin Durant has shouldered the offensive load for the Thunder, helping the team to five straight wins while leading the NBA in scoring with 31.0 points per game.
His 36 points last night in Oklahoma City's 111-105 win over San Antonio marked Durant's ninth straight game with at least 30 points scored.
"(Durant) scores because he's a smart player," Thunder coach Scott Brooks said, via ESPN. "He scores because he has the ability to put the ball on the floor and score on different spots on the floor. He also scores because we have good players around him. If you double team, we have guys who can make you pay."
Boston (15-29), meanwhile, continues to struggle in their first season without Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett. The Celtics have won only two of their last 10 games, although they snapped a three-game losing streak on Wednesday with a win against Washington.
"We don't have anything to lose," Celtics forward Gerald Wallace told the team website after the win, via ESPN. "Let's just go out and play loose, play together and kind of have fun in the game. I think that's what we did tonight, and it brought us closer."
Celtics star Rajon Rondo is also back in the lineup, although the one-year layoff has him playing limited minutes as he gets his body back into game-shape. He's played in only three games so far, averaging 5.0 points, 4.3 assists and 3.7 rebounds in 22 minutes of playing time per game.
