Here is good news for the fans of "Riverdale" as The CW has renewed the show for Season 2. So, fans will get to see more of Archie Andrews and his friends dealing with high school, aspirations, romance and also a mysterious murder that will disrupt the image of the town in this coming season.

The CW officially announced the renewal of "Riverdale" for Season 2 on Tuesday. This early renewal announcement does indicate the faith that the network has on the creative strength of the show as well as the vote of confidence that it gives to Greg Berlanti, the person behind the "Riverdale," Deadline reported.

"Riverdale" Season 2 is expected to be a bit darker as the mysterious murder of Jason Bloom will unsettle the town's wholesome image. Apart from the murder mystery, the characters, Archie Andrews, Veronica Lodge, Betty Cooper, Jughead Jones, Cheryl Blossom, and Josie McCoy, played by KJ Apa, Camila Mendes, Lili Reinhart, Cole Sprouse, Madelaine Petsch and Ashleigh Murray respectively, will deal with high school life, try to meet the expectations of their parents, fulfill their own aspirations and also juggle multiple romantic interests.

Notably, "Riverdale" has been receiving fair viewership since it debuted in January. Starting from 1.4 million viewers to the average of 1.2 million viewers weekly, "Riverdale" is striving to be the second non-superhero series after the popular series, "Supernatural," E! News claims.

It is worth mentioning here that "Riverdale" is inspired by the Archie Comics and is from the Warner Bros. Television and CBS Television Studios. The series has executive producers like Jon Goldwater, Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, Sarah Schechter and Greg Berlanti.

Along with "Riverdale" Season 2, CW has also renewed some of its other shows like Supernatural, The Flash, Arrow, Supergirl, DC's Legends of Tomorrow, Jane the Virgin and Crazy Ex-Girlfriend.
