The 89th Academy Awards ceremony, aka the Oscars, will honor the 2016's best of film industry in 24 categories and will take place on February 26, 2017.

The remarkable sci-fi thriller "Arrival", in which she portrays the role of a linguist professor who can communicate with alien visitors and also the psychological thriller "Nocturnal Animals", where Amy is an art gallery owner haunted by her ex-husband's novel.

Playing the iconic role of Jacqueline Kennedy in the biographical drama "Jackie", Natalie Portman had the critics and audience raving about her acting skills.

A surprise entry this year is definitely Ruth Negga. Making her first major lead role on the big screen with British-American historical drama film "Loving", she plays the role of a woman battling race laws.

French actress Isabelle Huppert is making her presence known in the Oscars race French-German-Belgian psychological thriller "Elle". In this critically acclaimed film, Huppert's character is trying to learn the identity of the man who raped her.

Apart from these, major predicted nominees can be Annette Bening for "20th Century Women", Jessica Chastain for "Miss Sloane", Meryl Streep for "Florence Foster Jenkins", Taraji P.
