Zooey Deschanel Wrongly Captioned as Boston Bombing Suspect; Caption Solutions Apologizes For The Blunder

Zooey Deschanel's name appeared on a Texas news broadcast as a Boston bombing suspect last week, the New York Daily News reported. The TV captioning service apologized to the "New Girl" star for the blunder.

Caption Solutions, Kansas-based Company, released a statement of apology to Deschanel for accidentally displaying her name as the Boston bombing suspect during Fox network affiliate KDFW's coverage of Boston Marathon bombing manhunt. According to the report, the captioning service agency said they "deeply regret" the mistake and the company president Kala J. Patterson added in the statement issued Tuesday that they "sincerely apologize for this error."

Apparently, the caption appeared on the Texas news broadcast was "Marathon bombing, he is 19-year-old Zooey Deschanel." The gender and the age may have been right considering it was referring to Dzhokhar A. Tsarnaev, who was arrested Friday night after being found in a boat behind a home in Watertown, Massachusetts.

After learning about the issue, Deschanel retweeted Joel McHale and radio show producer Peter Ogburn's tweets which read "Whoa! Epic closed captioning FAIL!" along with a screenshot of the news page showing the error.

Deschanel is currently working on her second season of her popular comedy series, "New Girl" and will soon be working with Taylor Swift on the final episode. Swift will make a guest appearance during a wedding sequence.

The famous comedy show, which also includes stars Jake Johnson, Max Greenfield and Lamorne Morris, was renewed for its third season earlier in March.
