Early Life
Justin Randall Timberlake was born on January 31, 1981 in Memphis, Tennessee. His parents Lynn Harless (née Bomar) and Randall Timberlake divorced when he was three years old. His mother remarried when he turned 5 while his father currently has two children from his second marriage. From a very young age, Timberlake showed interest in becoming an entertainer and began his career as a child artist. He was part of the cast of The Mickey Mouse Club, which included Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, JC Chasez and Ryan Gosling, in 1993 and 1994.
Career
Timberlake began his music career in 1995 when he and "The Mickey Mouse Club" co-star JC Chasez formed a popular boys band "NSYNC." The two were the lead singers while band members Lance Bass, Joey Fatone and Chris Kirkpatrick supported them in the background. They released their first self-titled album in 1998. The single "Tearin' Up My Heart" from the album was a great hit and they managed to sell over 11 million copies worldwide. The band released their second studio album "No Strings Attached" in 2000 which sold 2.4 million copies in the first week of release. The album included the #1 single "It's Gonna Be Me". This album was followed by the third album "Celebrity" after which the band went into hiatus. NSYNC sold more than 50 million copies of their albums worldwide, making them the third best-selling boy band in the history of music. While other band members pondered upon how to become rappers, Timberlake was sure he will make his mark in pop music.
In 1999, Timberlake made his adult acting debut in Disney Channel's movie "Model Behavior." In 2002, he debuted as a solo artist at the MTV Video Music Awards, premiering his single "Like I Love You." The single peaked at #11 on Billboard charts. In November that same year, he released his debut solo album "Justified." The album was #2 on Billboard charts and went on to sell 3 million copies in the United States and over 7 million copies worldwide.
His Super Bowling controversy in 2004 forced the singer to put his singing career on hold and concentrate on his acting career. He featured in a few films before finally releasing his second solo album FutureSex/LoveSounds, on September 12, 2006. It debuted as #1 on the Billboard 200 album chart and sold more than 680,000 copies. The album's lead single "SexyBack" topped Billboard charts and remained there for seven consecutive weeks.
In 2008, he won two Grammy Awards - Best Male Pop Performance Award for "What Goes Around...Comes Around", and the Dance Recording Award for "LoveStoned/I Think She Knows."
2013 was a big year for the singer as he released two of his albums - The 20/20 Experience and The 20/20 Experience - 2 of 2.
