Residents near the Los Angeles beach town of Marina del Rey reported a 3.1 magnitude earthquake on Friday morning, the United States Geological Survey reported to the Los Angeles Times.
The USGS stated that the shallow earthquake happened at around 11:48 PST, with a depth of about 6.2 miles.
The epicenter was located about two miles from Santa Monica and four miles away from Culver City, the Times reported, and was felt by residents throughout LA's Westside.
Ermanno Signorelli of Mar Vista, about a 12 minute drive from the heart of Marina del Rey, stated that the tremblor resembled "a little bump."
"It shook the house a little bit," the 78-year-old told the Times, adding jokingly, "Everybody's alive."
The earthquake was first reported as a magnitude 3.0 shake, but was later changed to 3.1 by the USGS.
No earthquakes with a magnitude of 3.0 or higher have been reported in the last 10 days.
