Tessanne Chin, with the help of her mentor Adam Levine, is the winner of "The Voice" Season 5.

The 28-year-old songstress won over America with her sultry vocals and charming personality. For those who are unfamiliar with Chin, here are five things you should know about the music competition's new champion.

1. Tessane Chin is the first Jamaican to enter the contest

Chin is of mixed race, but was born in Kingston, Jamaica. She is also married to Michael Cuffie.

"Her father Richard Chin is a Chinese and her mother Christine Chin is half black and half English/African. She has an older sister named Tami Chyn," International Business Times reports.

2. She's not going to put out a Reggae album

"Maybe not in a direct sense, but my music will always have that (swagger). It's who I am. I think the key to making great music is to stay true to yourself so (the listener) can relate to that," Chin said after "The Voice" performances on Monday night, Billboard reports.

3. Chin has been performing since the age of 6

Chin's mother and mentor Lecie Wright helped groom her talent at a young age.

"She became a performer at a very early age as she began to perform when she was just 6. At that time she was a part of her reputed performing arts school of Jamaica called Little People and Teen Players Club. She gained experience as a performer also through legendary Jamaican musician Jimmy Cliff and rock band Mile High," according to IBT.

4. She's inspired by Celine Dion, whom she had a duet with on "The Voice"

5. Chin loves her coach, Adam Levine

"[Levine's] awesome. You can't help but feel that way because he puts you completely at ease. You know, we've been at this for two months now and you're gonna build bonds. He's awesome. I can't say it enough, can not say it enough. I adore him," Chin told Zap2it.
