Twitter has recently updated its app to focus on direct messaging.
It’s been quite some time since Twitter started experimenting on multiple features that may possibly be added on its direct messaging (DM) system. Finally, all those features tested have been integrated in the DM.
The social networking site announced Tuesday an update to its Android and iOS apps and TweetDeck for personal computers, Chrome, and Web that will bring a new look on its direct messages (DM).
The updated version app features a swipeable design, wherein users can just swipe their fingers left and right to get a view of their activity timelines, home, discover, and direct messages.
It now features a direct link to Direct Messages that will permit users to access DM with just one click wherever they maybe on Twitter.
Twitter’s DM transformation comes out the right time as many private messaging apps emerge like mushrooms.
Aside from the revamp in the direct messages, the notification options have also been refurbished with additional suppleness. The notification in the Android version allows users to turn on notifications for individual users by clicking the star on their profiles.
The changes the company is applying are surely a way to make it more appealing as it is on its way to IPO.
It can also be a way for Twitter to say that “Hey, choose me. I can be your all-around messaging app,” as many similar messaging applications emerge like mushrooms.
The company has roughly 232 million active users monthly, while WhatsApp, according to reports, have 350 million. Though Twitter has started way earlier on the messaging apps, it will still have to do extra hard work to make it DM better -- or at least leveled with Different messaging apps like WhatsApp, Viber, Line and WeChat -- to gain more users.
