Another British actor may be in the running for a role in the highly anticipated "Star Wars Episode 7."

According to Bleeding Cool, Jack O'Connell's, 23, name has been thrown into the mix, joining many actors in the casting rumors.

"O'Connell, who was excellent in Tower Block, Harry Brown, Skins and many more, is a real contender for a key role in Star Wars: Episode VII. I believe that he's met with Abrams and the signs I'm getting are that this meeting went very well," Bleeding Cool reported.

You can see O'Connell in the upcoming "300: Rise of an Empire."

Back in November another up-and-coming actor was linked to the movie after a reporter for The Times U.K. spotted Chiwetel Ejiofor waiting in "Star Wars Episode 7" director J.J. Abrams' office.

"The British actor Chiwetel Ejiofor, front-runner in this year's Oscar race, is sitting in the lobby of J. J. Abrams' office. If you're a sci-fi fan, this might be very big news indeed," the Times reported.

Ejiofor was making many headlines in for his role in "12 Years A Slave" during that time, but Abrams did not confirm he met with the actor for a role in "Star Wars".

However, Abrams did reveal why he is happy to be a part of the "Star Wars" franchise.

"I loved how Star Wars had that sense of a world far beyond the borders of what you can see and have been told. It's one of the things it did so brilliantly. If you watch the first movie, you don't actually know exactly what the Empire is trying to do. They're going to rule by fear - but you don't know what their end game is," Abrams told the Times.

"You don't know what Leia is princess of," Abrams added. "You don't yet understand who Jabba the Hutt is, even though there is a reference to him. You don't know that Vader is Luke's father, Leia is his sister - but the possibility is all there. The beauty of that movie was that it was an unfamiliar world, and yet you wanted to see it expand and to see where it went."

"Star Wars Episode 7" is slated to hit theaters on Dec. 18, 2015.
