A Wendy's customer was reportedly taken to the hospital and suffered "food poisoning-type" symptoms after discovering a half-smoked joint in her cheeseburger, TMZ reports. The incident happened back in November at a Wendy's restaurant in Georgia.
According to the site, 32-year-old Amy Seiber was arrested for serving the customer the "marijuana burger." Lovejoy Police Department said Seiber confessed to accidentally dropping her joint in the cheeseburger.
The customer called 911 and complained to the officers that she found the blunt in her burger. The unidentified woman and the police went back to the Wendy's location where she ordered the burger and cops claim Seiber immediately told them the half-smoked joint belonged to her.
The officers confiscated it and arrested Seiber for possession of marijuana. Wendy's fired the employee and have reportedly offered to pay for the customers medical bills. They also gave her a $50 gift certificate.
"Obviously the employee broke the rules and did not follow proper food handling steps... We are deeply sorry that this incident occurred," a rep for Wendy's told TMZ.
Back in June Wendy's faced another scandal after a customer caught an employee eating ice cream directly from the Frosty Machine. The customer uploaded the photo to Reddit with the caption "I was going to buy a frosty from Wendy's until I saw the employee do this."
Bob Bertini, a spokesperson for Wendy's told the Huffington Post at the time that the photo was "totally inexcusable" and "we're investigating and will take action."
According to the New York Daily News, the employee in the photo was fired. Taco Bell also faced a similar scandal when one of their employees was photographed licking a stack of taco shells.
