When the Samsung Galaxy S7 was launched during the Mobile World Congress last month, official word was that it will hit stores on March 11. Recent reports, however, reveal that the handsets might already be available in India.

Samsung India's official Twitter account did state that the devices are available for "pre-booking," but there is no official announcement yet confirming that the devices are ready for shipping. Fans elsewhere who must wait for a bit more time should be consoled knowing that the reports coming out of India included pricing information, a detail that Samsung left out at MWC launch. The Galaxy S7 costs 48,900 Indian rupees ($726), while the Edge variant will be sold for 56,900 ($845).

Samsung's latest flagship devices are considered two of the smartphones to beat this year as both are outfitted with the best hardware and the greatest features. These include a QHD Super AMOLED display, bigger battery packs, the latest LTE technology, improved camera and the return of the expandable storage. Samsung is particularly proud of the storage feature. "Running out of memory shouldn't be a thing," the company said. "So if 32 GB isn't already enough, you can add an additional 200 GB with a microSD card. No clouds, no hard drives."

One of the exciting value propositions in purchasing the latest Galaxy devices is that it will come with free Samsung Galaxy Gear VR. However, there are certain facts that consumers need to remember for this specific promo. First, the free VR headset will only have a limited run. Second, claiming the headset could entail a thoroughly roundabout process as illustrated in the outlined steps for Indian consumers who will buy the device in a physical store. The process requires downloading the My Galaxy app where the Gear VR promo is set to appear. The Gear VR coupon that will be generated in the app could now be used to "buy" the Gear VR manually at Samsung India's eStore for free.

Those who are planning to buy an S7 at Flipkart will go through a more streamlined approach. They only need to activate their phones before April 7 and they will get the free Gear VR.
