LG G Flex Reportedly Set for Hong Kong Launch

LG G Flex is set to launch in Hong Kong on Tuesday.

Almost a month ago, LG Electronics Vice Chairman Koo Bon-joon, announced its plan of expanding their latest flagship smartphone to other countries. He was quoted saying, "We are now in discussions with global telecommunications firms. The curved smartphone is expected to be available in the U.S, Japanese, and European markets."

During that time, the date for the release was still unclear, but now, an invite from the South Korean manufacturer for a G Flex event in Hong Kong on December 3 was published by 3G.CN, a Chinese publication.

There are speculations that aside from the launch details in Hong Kong, the company might also announce the most anticipated global release of LG G Flex.

The LG phablet runs on Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean. It is equipped with a quad-core 2.26GHz Snapdragon 800 (MSM8974) processor, 2GB of RAM, and Adreno 330 GPU. It has a 2.1-megapixel front camera and a 13-meagapixel back-facing camera.

According to an earlier report of NDTV Gadgets, LG Electronics has been busy working on G Flex 2, a successor to the G Flex, which might be launched with a flexible battery in the second quarter on 2014. Reports claim that it will be designed with special hard rubber body permitting it to bend up to a 90 degree angle.

LG G Flex, which weighs 177 grams and is outfitted with a Plastic OLED display (P-OLED), which is allegedly ultra-light, ultra-thin and flexible, was released in South Korea on November 12 for 999,990 Won ($945.94).

The phone's 6-inch display has a Real RGB technology that provides all three sub-pixels in one pixel, thus making it "brighter and more precise."

LG Electronics has also equipped G Flex with a new "Self-Healing" coating on the back cover, an elastic coating that apparently has the capability to recover from the daily scratches un-cased smartphones usually get.
