The Hoff is coming back to "Baywatch," which means that Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson might not be the only Mitch Buchannon to be featured in the upcoming film adaptation of the hit TV show.

The "San Andreas" actor took to social media Wednesday to announce that David Hasselhoff, who played the original role of Mitch Buchannon in the drama series, will be donning the red shorts and running along the beach in slow-motion as he makes his return to the franchise in the upcoming "Baywatch" movie.

"Pleasure to officially welcome the original #BAYWATCH gangsta himself David Hasselhoff to our movie!" Johnson captioned a video clip he shared on his Instagram account, which shows him FaceTiming Hasselhoff.

"#BAYWATCH is the most successful TV show of all time and from the day we announced we were turning it into a movie, 'The Hoff' has been our greatest supporter," said Johnson. "Especially once he knew our RATED R movie was going to be a combination of AVENGERS meets ANCHORMAN."

"Hoff's a cool dude who's down to have fun and here's the best part... He's been training his ass off and gotten in the best shape he's been in in years! (cue slo-mo running and glistening chest hair.. wait, why the f--k am I even thinking about Hoff's chest hair!?)," Johnson added.

"I don't know if the world is ready for both of us," Johnson tells The Hoff in the video. "Are you ready?"

"C'mon man, Rock and The Hoff, I was born ready!" Hasselhoff replies confidently, to which Johnson exclaims, "There ain't no 'Bay' without The Hoff. Get ready world."

Hasselhoff was not only featured as the L.A. County lifeguard in the original "Baywatch," but he also served as a producer for the series until its end in 2001. The 63-year-old will star alongside Zac Efron, Alexandra Daddario, Kelly Rohrbach, Ilfenesh Hadera and Hannibal Buress.

Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra, who plays FBI agent Alex Parrish on "Quantico," will play the villain in the Seth Gordon-helmed film, which follows the story of a veteran lifeguard (Johnson) who is compelled to join forces with a younger lifeguard (Efron) in order to save the beach from an environmental disaster.

"Baywatch" is slated to hit theaters May 19, 2017.
