The Blues can secure a spot in the knockout round with a win or a draw on Tuesday, according to BBC. Chelsea (3-0-1) sits atop Group E with a three point lead over second-place Schalke 04. Basel trails Schalke by one point and remains in strong contention to advance as the group's runner up.
Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho acknowledged Basel, despite being an underdog, poses a challenge.
"Basel are a good team," Mourinho told BBC. "They won in London because they played better than us. We are in a better situation now."
Mourinho also acknowledged the importance of winning on Tuesday, if only to lessen the competitive schedule they have ahead of them for the Premier League and Champions League.
"Nine matches and one of them is against Steaua," said Mourinho. "That's our motivation for Tuesday, to try to kill the situation in the group phase and give us a little bit of space in December; instead of having nine real, competitive matches, we only have eight."
FC Basel is without Marcelo Diaz (rib) and Behrang Safari (thigh), according to SB Nation. Michael Essien (ineligible), Marco van Ginkel (knee) and Fernando Torres (adductor) are unavailable for Arsenal.
Projected Lineups:
FC Basel: Yann Sommer; Taulant Xhaka, Fabian Schar, Ivan Ivanov, Kay Voser; Serey Die, Fabian Frei; Valentin Stocker, Matias Delgado, Mohamed Salah; Marco Streller.
Chelsea: Petr Cech; Cesar Azpilicueta, John Terry, Gary Cahill, Branislav Ivanovic; John Obi Mikel, Ramires; Eden Hazard, Oscar, Willian; Samuel Eto'o.
